You'll fit if...

You're curious about Web3.

You are interested in open-source software and web3 technologies like cryptocurrencies, blockchains, DAOs and NFTs. However, you don't have to be a DeFi degen or seasoned veteran; we all continuously learn as we go.

You ship things.

Our clients expect to launch real products or take us on to improve existing ones; so we need to see that you've worked on production products before. This includes projects at startups, large companies, and freelance/consulting work. We generally look for 5+ years of experience.

You're a hands-on problem seeker.

Working with early-stage companies is full of ambiguity. There often aren't clear briefs, and context changes rapidly. It means we have to turn from problem solvers to problem seekers who help founders figure out building the right thing before building the thing right.

You are freelance / contract-based.

We're a collective of independent designers who already know the ins and outs of running their freelance businesses. We bundle together flexibly to work on the most exciting projects - but that flexibility requires maturity. We expect all WE3 contributors to know how to manage their time and workload, communicate with clients, present their work, and deliver things on time and in high quality.

We aren't a traditional agency or an employer, so we can't guarantee an ongoing stream of projects, so we prefer to work with people who like to manage their workload independently.

Unfortunately, we can't make it work if you have a full-time job – the commitment to our client projects requires more than a couple of hours in the evening after work.

Web3 hasn't focused on a good product–yet.

Far more time has been spent designing smart contracts and token mechanics than designing the products and experiences that make use of them.

Some still view Web3 solely as financial speculation where 'numba goes up'. To change its public image, we must help people experience digital ownership and coordination firsthand.

We believe new consumer apps will emerge across social networks, gaming, commerce, finance, media, and many others. Before they do, there's a lot of work for designers to fight friction in usability, jargon and dated mental models.

At WE3, design is not a sexy button, a trendy gradient or a sleek logo.

Through design, we make new ideas, concepts, products, and complex technologies more intuitive and useful.

The blockchain infrastructure has matured. The new piping for global communication, coordination and commerce is in place.

Traditional employment is becoming unbundled.

The most talented thinkers and builders realize they can deliver their best work without being attached to a monolithic corporation.

But independent ≠ alone.

Designers, strategists, builders, and thinkers are bundling back up in lean, liquid teams. Why? Empowerment, flexibility, optionality.

The future is a fluid collective of top talent tapping into the most exciting and valuable opportunities.

It's sharing the upside in the work you do, in the ideas you help to shape and make real.

That's why WE3 is a community-owned collective.

Team up on quality web3 projects with talented designers and earn cash & equity.
